About Us
OSSeas Advisory Services developed in 2017 out of the original company, OSSeas Ltd, which had the registered name of Offshore Survey, Sciences and Engineering Associates Ltd. The trading name was OSSeas Consulting and as such participated in many projects world-wide.
However, since mid-2014 the offshore oil and gas industry has seen a decline in oil prices which has severely impacted the ability of operators and major offshore contractors to maintain their operations at the pre-2014 levels. This was not just another cyclic downturn, it forever changed the way that operators executed offshore projects. The consequences of this has been a trimming and tightening within the industry resulting in a significant number of projects postponed or cancelled and work opportunities lost. Consequently many companies and individuals involved in the sector at the time were adversely affected by those changes.
Whilst there are still operations ongoing there is increased placement competition between the older experienced personnel and the rising university graduates and junior personnel. In a contracted market it is necessary to nurture the younger generation but also necessary to retain the age and experience, however, to do both is often not a viable proposition for many companies or operators.
Many older, highly experienced personnel are having great difficulty in finding roles and so are moving away from the offshore industry to other sectors, or changing their lives completely and so their knowledge and expertise becomes a permanent loss to the industry.
OSSeas offers an alternative to both the individual and the company or operator to enable the industry to retain those years of knowledge and experience and put them to good use within the industry.
OSSeas Advisory Services brings those people with strong knowledge, expertise, experience and understanding into an organisation where they can effectively utilise these personal assets. Where they can offer the accumulated years of experience working “at the sharp end”, being on site, practically implementing their expertise, to help a project progress smoothly from concept to commissioning.
Projects don’t just happen. Its people that make projects. OSSeas Mentors come alongside the younger, less experienced assistant project manager, lead engineer, project surveyor, HSE or procurement manager, or one of the many other roles the sector encompasses. In a one on one relationship the OSSeas Mentor becomes a font of knowledge, understanding, experience and wisdom that the younger, trainee senior staff can tap into and thus expand their own capabilities.
The client company also benefits from having real talent and expertise on call without having to engage such staff on a permanent or day rated basis, thus enabling the project to benefit whilst remaining within the new budgetary constraints.
